Common mistake:

"insertae sedis" - people make a mixup with "to insert" or "insertion" and switch the C for an S.

The correct form is incertae sedis, both in the singular and in the plural.

Why?

sēdes, is -- Latin noun meaning "seat", gender feminine. As indicated in the standard dictionary entry, the singular genitive is sedis.

incertus, a, um -- Latin adjective meaning "uncertain". Flexed in the genitive feminine to match sedis makes incertae.

Thus incertae sedis, meaning "of uncertain seat".
