Sherman Chauncey BISHOP

BIOGRAPHY. Né le 18 novembre 1887 a Sloatsburg (N.Y.). Après ses études à l'Université Cornell, il a été successivement assistant d'entomologie et de pathologie végétale à cette même Université, puis zoologiste au New York State Museum, professeur-adjoint de biologie à l'Université de Rochester et finalement, en 1933, professeur de zoologie.
Il s'est particulièrement intéressé à la systématique et à la biologie des Reptiles, des Batraciens et des Arachnides. En ce qui concerne les Araignées, il a fait d'importantes révisions de genres, la plupart en collaboration avec CROSBY, et a publié quelques notes sur l'éthologie de certaines Araignées.
