FIELD EXPERIENCE: Extensive field work since 1971 for personal research on systematics, biogeography, and descriptive ecology of spiders, related arachnids, and cave invertebrates, spending up to 40 days per year in the field, often as part of formal and semi-formal expeditions organized by the Burke Museum, Cave Research Foundation, and other groups. Also relevant is 35 years of experience building the Burke Museum spider collection from less than 3,000 specimens in canning jars to a fully curated and computer catalogued major systematic resource of over 100,000 specimens. Survey and inventory, Kuril Islands, July-August 1994.

PUBLICATIONS: Since 1974, more than 50 scientific publications and more than 40 popular articles on the systematics, biogeography, and descriptive ecology of spiders, related arachnids, and cave invertebrates.
